Tango argentine is a versatile, rhythmical and sensual dance accompanied by a melancholy music full of passion. It evokes past memories, and also perhaps unfulfilled hopes and expresses a longing for freedom and for a better life. The tango has its roots in Buenos Aires, where it was conceived sometime between 1890 and 1900 under harsh conditions, and was influenced by European immigrants. In its original and archaic form, it was danced in the streets and public squares of the Argentinean metropoles, until it finally found its way into the noble establishments of Paris. During its history of over one hundred years, the tango has evolved in terms of music as well as dance steps. It is currently undergoing a worldwide revival.

Tango is danced in a couple and fascinates through its complexity: the movements and steps are harmonious and playful; they open the way to a new sensibility of dancing together. Tango lives and is created by the fascination of both dance partners and by their wish to go on a creative journey, to function as a unit and to forget everything around them for a moment. Opening up to this dance is well worth the effort.
